Sensor Integration
Configure and integrate sensors into your robotic system. Explore practical guides for GMSL camera configuration, camera timing, and ROS 2 integration on supported Advantech platforms.
Choose a guide based on your hardware and integration task. The guides below cover different platforms and are not consecutive steps in a single setup procedure.
Choose your guide
| Your goal | Platform | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Detect connected cameras, configure channel profiles, and manage synchronization and ROS 2 startup | ASR702 | GMSL Camera Configuration |
| Establish and verify camera timing through hardware signals and software checks | ASR-A502 | GMSL Camera Time Sync |
GMSL Camera Configuration
Use Advantech GMSL Camera Configuration (adv-cam) to configure supported cameras connected to the ASR702's eight GMSL channels. Work through a graphical interface, a text interface, or the command line to:
- Detect connected cameras and assign a supported camera profile to each channel.
- Review channel mappings and stream or shared-link constraints.
- Configure the shared synchronization trigger and camera-side synchronization where supported.
- Manage ROS 2 camera-node startup when the required ROS environment is available.
- Save and apply the configuration, then reboot and verify the expected camera streams.

GMSL Camera Time Sync
Use this guide for ASR-A502 applications that require coordinated camera timing. It explains the hardware signal path and the software checks used to establish and verify synchronization.
The guide walks through:
- Reviewing the synchronization architecture and required hardware.
- Configuring the BIOS and checking the TGPIO connection to the GMSL daughter board.
- Verifying the PTP device and building the test utility.
- Measuring the time offset, checking PPS output, and configuring the continuous synchronization service.
